Basic obedience training for dogs 6 months and older is essential for building good behavior, improving communication, and creating a well-mannered companion. At this stage, dogs are ready to learn foundational commands such as watch me, sit, stay, wait, come, down, heel, and leave it & more. These core obedience skills help prevent common behavior problems like jumping, pulling on the leash, excessive barking, and ignoring commands.

Our dog training program focuses on positive reinforcement techniques that are proven to be effective and humane. Whether you have a newly adopted rescue dog or an older puppy entering adolescence, structured obedience training provides mental stimulation, builds confidence, and strengthens the bond between you and your dog.

Training includes:

• Loose leash walking in real-world settings

• Basic Commands

• Polite greetings without jumping

• Come when called

• Impulse control and focus around distractions

• Household manners and structure

• Addressing issues such as jumping, lunging, chewing, excessive barking & more
• Promotes positive socialization skills with other dogs & people

Classes progress weekly to avoid overwhelming you or your dog. Each session includes detailed, handwritten homework to guide your at-home practice and reinforce what you’ve learned in class.

 Training Location:  Hollywood Feed Pet Store (Falls Pointe Shopping Center) 9660 Falls of the Neuse Rd. Training Location: On pleasant weather days, we’ll take our training outdoors to a private location just across Durant Road, allowing your dog to practice skills in a real-world setting.

The first class is orientation. This prerequisite session will provide the information necessary to prepare you & your companion for training.

Class Requirements:

• Dogs must be 6 months of age
• Proof of vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper & Parvo) must be brought to orientation).
• Required training equipment – easy walk harness or medium to large breeds. Regular harness for small dogs
