In-Home Dog training lessons & Behavior Consultations

At Training Your Best Friend, we understand that every dog—and every family—is unique. Behavior change can be tough, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Each dog-owner journey comes with its own set of goals and challenges, which is why we offer customized training programs tailored to your dog’s individual needs. Whether you’re guiding a spirited puppy or helping an adult dog learn new skills or overcome behavior issues, I am here to support you every step of the way. My personalized approach focuses on building a strong, trusting bond through compassion, understanding, and expert guidance.

I bring personalized, professional dog training right to your doorstep. With private, one-on-one sessions, I work with you and your dog in the comfort of your own home. Using positive reinforcement techniques, I help your dog learn at their own pace in an environment they’re comfortable in, while giving you the tools and guidance you need for long-term success.

No matter where you are on your journey—bringing home a new puppy, working through a tough behavior, or simply wanting a stronger bond—I’m here to make training feel approachable, achievable, and yes, even fun. My goal is for you to feel confident in understanding your dog and knowing how to respond in ways that encourage good choices and deepen your connection.

My Training Philosophy

I believe that trust and confidence are the foundation of effective training. That’s why I use only humane, reward-based methods that encourage desired behaviors and foster a joyful, stress-free learning experience. My goal is to help you build a lasting relationship with your dog—one built on clear communication, mutual respect, and deep understanding.

My approach to training is all about what’s best for each individual dog. I focus on creating the right environment and management strategies first, so we can stop unwanted behaviors before they become habits. Every dog tells us what they find rewarding, and I use those motivators to shape the behaviors we want to see. It’s all about setting dogs up for success.

Training is based on trust, respect, understanding, and a utilization of science to create changes in behavior. We train both ends of the leash using these same beliefs. Each person’s journey with their dog is unique, with specific goals and challenges.

Getting Started: In-Home Training Sessions

Every dog and situation are unique, which is why I begin with an initial consultation. This allows us to discuss your goals, evaluate your dog’s needs, and create a customized training plan with the best approach for behavior modification and learning.

Standard Training Sessions

Perfect for both puppies and adult dogs, these sessions focus on building essential skills, good manners, and a strong foundation for lifelong learning. We’ll work on obedience, leash manners, impulse control, and other everyday behaviors that make life together smoother and more enjoyable. Training is tailored to your dog’s age, personality, and learning style, ensuring steady progress in a positive, stress-free way.

 Behavior Modification Consultation

Behavioral Consultation is a deep-dive, personalized session designed to address more complex or challenging behaviors that go beyond basic obedience training. These sessions are ideal for dogs who may be struggling with fear, anxiety, aggression, or other behavior issues that are causing stress in your home or out in the world.

During a behavioral consultation, I take the time to thoroughly understand your dog’s history, daily routine, environment, and specific behavior concerns. This includes a detailed discussion with you, direct observation of your dog, and sometimes hands-on work during the initial session. Together, we’ll uncover what might be contributing to the behavior—whether it’s fear-based, stress-related, medical, or environmental—and come up with a practical, step-by-step plan to help you and your dog move forward.
