Intermediate Obedience is the next step after Basic Obedience. We add distance, duration and distraction to basic behavior in a fun, motivating environment. We take your dog’s foundation skills to the next level using fun games and exercises with increased distractions.
Intermediate Obedience builds off the foundation of Basic Obedience. This class is designed to help you advance your training skills and take your dog’s accomplishments to a higher level. We add distance, duration and distraction to basic behavior in a fun, motivating environment. We take your dog’s foundation skills to the next level using fun games and exercises with increased distractions. You will build on communication and positive reinforcement techniques so that getting and keeping your dog’s attention becomes second nature.
This 7-week curriculum is set to be fun and interesting for you and your dog, and class is run in a positive, relaxed format where positive reinforcement is key and training is aimed solid success. We’ve redesigned this class to make it more fun and interesting using music and choregraphed routines. during part of our training session to create a positive and focused atmosphere.
We begin introducing more real-world scenarios you would face with your dog out in public. Training focuses on improving your dog’s reliability and responsiveness, even in distracting environments. Specifically, you will be working on adding distance, duration and distractions. You will work with a 20 foot & 30-foot lead as well as off leash exercises.
After completing a basic dog obedience training class, many people think their dog should be perfect. But like any skill, training takes time and practice to master. Our classes are designed to teach your dog to respond to your commands and remain in them regardless of whether you are at home or in an area full of excitement and distractions.
Intermediate Obedience Includes the Following:
- Reinforcement of Basic Obedience Skills
- Targeting
- Hand signals
- Heel and turn
- Solid Recall
- Longer stays with distractions.
- Longer down with distractions
- Confidence building exercise using music & choregraphed routines
- Longer Loose Lead Walking
- Settling mat with distractions
Class Schedule: Saturday, January 11 (1:30-2:30)
First Class held at Hollywood Feed Pet Store without the dogs
