Public Manners
Public Manners is a seven-week course that meets at various locations weekly so we can work around countless distractions. This class is designed to offer great opportunities for you to put your dog in “real-world” situations while remaining in a semi- controlled environment, allowing you to train your dog and establish the relationship and leadership you’ll need with your dog when you go out in public.
Public Manners is the natural next step after Basic Obedience and will help prepare your dog for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.
Training begins in a low-distraction environment and gradually progresses with new exercises each week at specific locations. This helps your dog adapt to real-life situations through structured training in different settings.
This class strengthens appropriate social skills, sharpens leash handling, reinforces reliable foundational commands, and enhances communication and attention in distracting environments. Dogs learn to walk confidently through busy areas, greet others with good manners, and remain calm and composed in public spaces such as restaurants and cafés.
Common behavior challenges—including jumping, barking, and lunging—are addressed in a practical, supportive way, giving owners the tools and confidence to manage their dogs successfully both at home and out in the community.
We focus on solid, practical obedience in real-world environments, giving you the tools to confidently guide your dog through everyday situations. Along the way, you’ll learn management strategies for those “sticky” moments and how to strengthen your bond and leadership.
